Does autism qualify for DLA?

Not automatically — but the care needs autism creates almost always do. DLA measures whether your child needs substantially more care or supervision than a child of the same age.

How much DLA can I get?

Care: £108.55 or £43.10 per week. Mobility: £75.75 or £30.00 per week. You can receive one or both components.

Does school affect the claim?

No. DLA considers needs across all environments including home, evenings, weekends and night-time.

Can I claim Carer's Allowance?

If you provide 35+ hours of care per week, you may qualify. Many parents who qualify aren't claiming.
